The company has acknowledged and fixed some bugs, while many are still left. Ever since Apple introduced macOS Monterey, users have been facing several kinds of issues with this latest OS. Updated Maps app with detailed cities, new transit features, and an interactive globe. MacOS 12 Monterey is the latest iteration of Apple’s Mac operating system that was announced at WWDC in June and was officially released on October 25. It allows users to create personal shortcuts from their favorite apps. The Shortcuts app was imported from iOS. Added Live Text, an easy way for users to interact with text on an image. Added AirPlay to Mac, which allows media to be streamed straight from an iOS device. Added Universal Control, which allows users to use a single keyboard and mouse between devices. Added Quick Note, an easy way for users to quickly write something down from anywhere within the system.
Added Focus, a utility for filtering notifications. Compact tab bar and tab grouping within Safari. Multiple photos sent in iMessage will now show up in a stacked view.
Added Shared with You, which adds content shared through iMessage within other apps. It can be compared with Super Terminal and Screen Coordination in HarmonyOS 2.0. Enhancements to Continuity, which is Apple's technology for seamless integration with macOS and other Apple OSes such as iOS. Added portrait Mode within FaceTime, which adds a blur effect to whatever's behind you. Added Mic Modes within FaceTime, which adjusts how much ambient sound comes through. Connecting a USB flash drive works fine on both Mac and Windows. Other troubleshooting steps I have tried:Ĭonnecting SSD to Win11 PC and performing initialize/cleaned using diskpart utility.
The firmware is up to date on both drives and security is disabled. This is despite trying different formats (NTFS, APFS, etc). A few times I get something about an I/O error. Most times I get "Wiping volume data to prevent future accidental probing failed. However the Erase function fails every time.

After making sure to enable "Show All Devices", I run First Aid on the SSD and it is successful. macOS 12.0.1 (build 21A559) is an update to macOS 12 (Monterey) that was released on Octoby Apple Inc. Choosing Initialize opens Disk Utility where the drive is shown. Either nothing will happen at all but checking System Report shows the drive under USB with the correct voltage, or I get a message saying the connected drive cannot be read with options to Initialize, Eject, or Ignore. Sometimes, when connecting either drive, one of 2 scenarios occur. I have determined that the above mentioned app is not the issue.

Installed on the macs is Paragon NTFS For Mac M1 Version. My goal is for the drives to use NTFS because I also deal with Windows machines. Both hard drives are not recognized on 2 M1 Macs (M1 Pro Macbook, M1 Mac mini).
